Somewhere there's a heart that's breaking
Somewhere, somebody's taking way too many pills to be alright
In the city there's a siren screaming
It puts the brakes on a mothers dream, while everybody else sleeps well tonight
It leaves me so uninspired
To the captain, it's a warning call:
"Turn the ship around, or you'll kill us all!"
But in that chair, there's no one to be found
If we're lucky, we can swim for shore
But we'll probably wind up on the ocean floor
So cue those violins, we're going down

Maybe I'm done, maybe I'm through

Either way, I'm so uninspired
He works a run-down nine-to-five
Can't recall the last time he felt alive
But he lies, he smiles, and he says he's doing fine
Then later when it's layoff time
He's just another face in the welfare line
I just lie, smile, and say, "I got mine."
It leaves me so uninspired
Maybe we're done, maybe we're through
Maybe we've done all we can do
Either way, I'm so uninspired
